We often hunger for many things which does not truly satisfy us but leaves us empty and unfulfilled. Hunger can be more than physical, it can be emotional, spiritual, carnal and psychological. We must begin to discern our hunger and look only to the One that can truly satisfy. God created His son Jesus to become the Living Bread, the Bread of Life, and the Daily Bread because after the fall of man, man inherited hunger. That hunger is to defy and desire those things God did not intend for us to partake of. So, as a way of providing and meeting our need, God gave us His Word, Jesus. Our hunger can only truly be satisfied by Him. So many times, we feed ourselves junk, being physical food, other physical things, and images instead of feeding upon the Living Word. The more that we eat things which does not satisfy, it causes us to desire more of it. But, if we starve our desires, it begins to weaken. We must believe that when our soul is experiencing many emotions and our fleshly desires are raging from within, He can fill us till we want no more. “Those that hunger and thirst after righteousness will be filled”. The truth of the matter is that we must begin to hunger for what God has spoken, promised, and purposed. He promised that He would give us the desires of our heart. We can trade in our own desires for His desires. We cannot be filled until we hunger. Let us ask God for the desires/hunger of our heart. Do not wait until you are depleted spiritually to begin to eat spiritually. We must eat at any time to keep all other hungers at bay and to continuously be filled with His Word and Spirit.
Matthew 5:6 “Those that hunger and thirst after righteousness will be filled.”
